The owners of the OBC Chicken and Meat stores truly care about the communities they serve. They express that routinely by delivering on the slogan “Giving you more” but it doesn’t end there. From time to time, our marketing team put their heads together to find ways and means to add extra excitement to the mix.

The recent “win a car” competition is a good example of this. One lucky customer was offered the chance to win a brand-new Datsun Go motorcar. Our customers loved it, participation exceeded our wildest expectations and the excitement of the eventual winner was truly something to behold.

Terms and conditions of entry were drawn up and published on our website as well as on Facebook. The competition was running from 26th September to the 4th of October 2017. It attracted much interest, not only because of the attractive prize on offer but also because it was linked to the purchase of a tasty 3kg braai pack at an unbeatable price.

Participation was simple. Entrants had to purchase a braai pack, write their contact details on the back of the till slip and place it into the entry box available at any OBC Chicken and Meat store. Multiple entries were permitted but each entry had to be supported by the purchase of the special braai pack.
At the end of the competition period, three finalists were randomly drawn from each store’s entry box and submitted to OBC Head Office. Soccer personality Zeca Marques, he of Super Sport fame, drew the winning store – OBC Chicken and Meat Mabopane Junction.

The three finalists whose till slips were in the OBC Mabopane envelope were notified and invited to come to OBC Chicken and Meat Mabopane on 1st December 2017 for the final draw.

The final draw was conducted in a festive atmosphere and attracted much public interest, with the OBC Mabopane store front, the OBC canopy and the Datsun Go the focal points of the event. After explaining the rules and handing the finalists their envelopes, Robbie Capazorio did the count-down. Trembling with anticipation, the finalists opened their envelopes.

Julia Busisiwe Shabangu had the winning entry. She was absolutely overcome with excitement,
so much so that we wanted you to share the moment. Just click on the following link:

Although disappointed, the other finalists proved themselves to be good sports by being the first to congratulate Busisiwe warmly on her win.

Almost immediately after Busisiwe had taken possession of her brand-new Datsun Go, Facebook came alive with comment, all highly complementary of the OBC brand and the community spirit we display. Some extracts follow:

Viva OBC, viva…
Jorge Madelete Nhantumbo

Good done, OBC Mehboob Patel

The best meat at OBC shop Tofara Mbire

Woow, dis is lovely, may you keep doing the great work you are doing
Henny C Tsonga Prince
OBC Mabopane, Yeah!
David Dalcos.

There can be no doubt in anyone’s mind that this was a highly successful promotion, and one that did the OBC brand proud.
